Former Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey is certainly going to be one of the top players at the position in the 2016 NFL Draft and he will likely be a top five pick. One thing that makes Ramsey so coveted is the fact that he can play either cornerback or safety.
ESPN Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. recently made a big comparison for Ramsey. He talked about how the Jacksonville Jaguars would likely draft Ramsey because of them having Dante Fowler Jr. to fill the defensive end role and because he is such a versatile player.
Kiper went on to say that Ramsey could be compared to Rod Woodson or Charles Woodson. That is a pretty nice comparison considering that one is already in the Hall of Fame and the other will be in the next decade or so.
“This is a kid who played tremendous football at safety, tremendous at corner,” Kiper said. “He has length. He has athleticism. He’s coming in like a Rod Woodson did, like a Charles Woodson, the great corners over the years, the corner/safety types that did both in the NFL. Before his career is over, he will have played both positions.”
During three seasons at Florida State, Ramsey recorded 181 tackles, three interceptions, four sacks, and three forced fumbles. I think it’s pretty safe to say that any team in the NFL would be excited to have a player like Ramsey on their roster.
