The Minnesota Golden Gophers are looking to improve off their Quick Lane Bowl in December in 2016. One big thing that will help them out is having quarterback Mitch Leidner back in the saddle.
He underwent foot surgery following the season and he looks to be ready for spring training. Head coach Tracy Claeys the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that Leidner should be ready to go when the team takes the field in March.
Leidner threw for 2,701 yards and 14 touchdowns against 11 interceptions during the 2015 season. He has also showed off his ability to run as he has ran for 1,129 yards and 23 touchdowns the last three seasons.
If he isn’t ready to go, the Golden Gophers will have to rely on Demry Croft, a rising sophomore who only had 17 attempts in 2015. Luckily, Leidner looks to be healing very nicely so far.
