Mackensie Alexander to sit out NFL Scouting Combine

After Iowa cornerback Desmond King and LSU cornerback Tre’Davious White announced their return to school for their senior year, Clemson cornerback Mackensie Alexander’s draft stock skyrocketed. He is now considered the third best behind Jalen Ramsey and Vernon Hargreaves.

However, it looks like an injury could cause a bit of a setback for Alexander. He suffered a strained hamstring in the national championship game against Alabama a little over a month ago and that will cause him to miss the NFL Scouting Combine, according to NFL.com’s Rand Getlin.

He is in Indianapolis after being invited, but he won’t be able to participate in any workouts this weekend. That could be a huge blow for him as many teams base players’ stock off of what they do at the Combine.

At least he will be able to show off his skills to many scouts at his Pro Day in March. Scouts should also take into consideration what he was able to do during his career as he was able to step up and make big plays against some of the most talented receivers in the country.
