Robert Nkemdiche claims he was drunk during hotel incident

One big controversy surrounding former Ole Miss defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche is the incident ahead of the 2016 Sugar Bowl that saw him fall out of a hotel window in Atlanta. He was suspended for the team’s bowl game after police found several marijuana cigarettes in his room.

It has hurt his draft stock tremendously as he fell from a potential top-five pick to a possible second-round selection. Nkemdiche spoke with reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine and said that he was not under the influence of drugs.

He claimed that he was drinking in the room, but was not using marijuana. He also claimed that other players, including Laremy Tunsil, were in the room with him.

I was drunk,” the defensive tackle told reporters.

Nkemdiche said that it was a bad decision on his part and that he was embarrassed about the whole situation. He also said that he isn’t the guy that the media makes him out to be.

“It was a rash decision,” Nkemdiche said. “It was embarrassing People who know me, that’s not who I am.”

Let’s hope that he is able to move past this situation and perform up to the level he built during his career in Oxford.
