Navy retires No. 19 in honor of Keenan Reynolds

Former Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds is going to go down as the best player in Midshipmen history. He will arguably be remembered as one of the best players in NCAA history.

He is being treated as such as he became just the fourth Midshipmen to have his number retired. He joined Roger Staubach (12), Joe Bellino (27), and Napoleon McCallum (30) in the illustrious group at the team’s football banquet on Sunday.

This is quite an honor and something that I never dreamed would happen,” Reynolds said at the banquet. “I give all the credit to my teammates. This is a group honor and without my teammates over the past four years none of this would have been possible.”

He set the school record for most career wins by a quarterback, finishing 32-13 with the team. He also broke the FBS mark for career rushing touchdowns (88) and most points (530), along with most rushing yards by a quarterback (4,559).

Reynolds finished fifth in the 2015 Heisman Trophy voting and was 7-1 in service games, including an undefeated 4-0 record against rival Army. He also won the E.E. “Rip” Miller Award, given to the team’s most valuable player, making him the first person to win the award four times.
