The Indianapolis Colts made a huge coup last summer when they signed longtime Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson off of free agency. It looked like he was going to be a big piece of their offense, but that didn’t happen.
He didn’t make an impact at all for the Colts as he nearly had the worst statistical season of his career. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the team had released Johnson Friday morning.
Colts have told WR Andre Johnson that they are releasing him, per source. One more high-profile unemployed veteran.

Johnson caught just 41 passes for 503 yards, the second-lowest total in his career, and four touchdowns during the 2015 season. It looks to be that his $7 million contract was too much for them to keep his lack of production around.
He has been in the league since 2003 and has recorded over 14,000 yards and 69 touchdowns. There is a good chance that not only is Johnson’s career with the Colts over, but his career in the NFL may be over as well.
