During the NFL Combine, draft hopefuls can expect to be asked some pretty strange questions. However, one player seems to have been asked a question that may have been pushing things a little too far.
Former Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple spoke with Comcast SportsNet’s Breakfast on Broad on Friday and said that one of the first questions he was asked by the Atlanta Falcons threw him for a loop. That question: “Do you like men?”
“I’ve been asked a lot of weird questions,” he said. “I don’t know if I could say [them] on TV. The Falcons coach, one of the coaches, was like, ’So do you like men?’ It was like the first thing he asked me. It was weird. I was just like, ‘No.’ He was like, ‘If you’re going to come to Atlanta, sometimes that’s just how it is around here. You’re going to have to get used to it.’ I guess he was joking, but they just ask most of these questions to see how you’re going to react.”
Now, I have no idea if this was an actual joke, a sign of what goes on in head coach Dan Quinn’s locker room, or a subtle hint that there might be a Falcon player that is secretly in the closet, but no matter what, this was highly inappropriate.
If this turns out to be true, I wouldn’t doubt that some kind of reprimand is brought down on the coach. You just can’t do this kind of thing in this day and age.
