One position that hasn’t been getting a ton of love this season when it comes to the NFL Draft is the offensive guard. These guys are sometimes the hardest working players on the offense as they have to be athletic enough to put out and open up traps, but smart enough to adjust on quick stunts and blitzes.
For one NFL Draft prospect, he has been getting a ton of hype since he found out he would be making the move to the interior. That player is former Kansas State lineman Cody Whitehair and he certainly looks like a player you would want to have on your team.
Bob McGinn of the Journal Sentinel talked about a number of options the Green Bay Packers could have in the first round of the Draft this year and when he came to Whitehair, he said that one scout had a lot of good things to say about him.
“He was a college left tackle but will be a guard,” one scout said. “Probably the best guard in the draft. Very steady. Always in great position. Great feet. Knows how to play.”
Whitehair has had an impressive showing this offseason as he had the third fastest 40 time among all offensive linemen at 5.02. He has been praised as having quick hands and feet and that is certainly a trait any team is going to covet in April.
