Coby Fleener inks 5 year deal with Saints

The New Orleans Saints have been looking for a replacement for Jimmy Graham since shipping him off to Seattle last summer. They may have just gotten their big name player going forward as they have signed Coby Fleener to close out the first day of the 2016 NFL season.

NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport confirmed the signing Wednesday afternoon. He reported that the deal is for five years and worth $36 million.

Coby Fleener entered the league in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He followed college teammate Andrew Luck to the Indianapolis Colts and spent the last four seasons with the team.

Fleener recorded 2,154 yards, including 774 yards in 2014, and 17 touchdowns through four years with the team. He will now likely play a big role for the Saints and quarterback Drew Brees going forward.

This move also turns out to be a very smart one for the Saints as they are getting a very talented player for a pretty cheap price. At less than $7 million a year, this could be one of the biggest steals of the day.
