Video: Sam Darnold talks USC QB competition

The one thing that the USC Trojans have to contend with going into the 2016 season is being without three-year starting quarterback Cody Kessler. However, it seems that redshirt freshamn Sam Darnold is going to step up into that role for the Trojans going into the season.

Darnold is looking to take over the starting role for the Trojans this year and he seems pretty determined to do so. He had his first practice in the starting role with the Trojans on Monday and he spoke with Scout.com.

Right now, Darnold is competing with Max Browne and Jalen Greene for the starting role. Many shouldn’t be surprised if Darnold emerges the starter at the end of the spring training period.

Sam Darnold was a four-star member of the Trojans’ 2015 recruiting class out of San Clemente, California. He was ranked as the fifth-best dual-threat quarterback in the country and the number 21 one player in the state of California.
