The 2016 NFL free agency period is in full swing and it seems like some teams aren’t waiting around to get out and sign big-name players. The San Diego Chargers are one of the first teams to make a splash by signing former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Travis Benjamin.
The news came down Wednesday morning that the Chargers were looking to bring Benjamin in to give quarterback Philip Rivers yet another big target to throw to. Rand Getlin of NFL.com first reported the news early Wednesday morning.
I’m told WR Travis Benjamin plans to sign with the #Chargers when the market officially opens tomorrow. San Diego gets a dangerous weapon.

In four seasons with the Browns, Benjamin has proven to be one of the best young receivers in the NFL. He has racked up nearly 1,700 yards, 996 of which came in 2015, and 10 touchdowns. He has also proven his worth in the special teams game in his career.
Benjamin has returned punts and kickoffs for over 1,300 yards and three total touchdowns.
Could imagine the receiving corps for the Chargers this season? Keenan Allen, Stevie Johnson, and now Travis Benjamin. This is insane.
