Over the weekend, former Mississippi State Bulldogs quarterback Dak Prescott was arrested for driving under the influence. It was an unfortunate case of timing for Prescott, who has been rising up NFL Draft boards recently, but it does not appear as though it will have a serious impact.
According to CBS Sports draft analyst Dane Brugler, a massive slide for Prescott as a result of the arrest is unlikely.
“Obviously it hurts Prescott’s status and could cost him some money on draft weekend. However, it shouldn’t be a freefall situation, mostly because he has built up enough goodwill with teams,” Brugler wrote.
Prior to this incident, Prescott was viewed as an impressive second-tier quarterback prospect with a clean off-field record.
Former teammates have had nothing but great things to say about the former Bulldogs quarterback, so he should benefit from his positive reputation. Of course, Prescott will now have to avoid any further issues off the field.
We will find out just how much — if any — the DUI arrest impacts Prescott’s NFL Draft stock when it kicks off in Chicago on April 28.
