The Tulane Green Wave is trying to get things turned around in New Orleans and they hope new head coach Willie Fritz will get it going for them. He left Georgia Southern for Tulane back in December and he has just completed his first coaching staff with the team.
According to multiple reports, Fritz completed the staff on Monday by announcing the hiring of four coaches. Those four coaches are Slade Nagle, Jamaal Fobbs, Jeff Conway, and Chris Hampton.
Conway, who comes from Texas State where he was co-offensive coordinator and will coach wide receivers, has a pretty good history with Fritz. The two of them began their careers at Sam Houston State and coached at Blinn Junior College, Central Missouri, and then again with the Bearkats, according to a release by the school.
“Fritz and Conway have a storied history together that dates back to 1984 when both were in their first stints at Sam Houston State. Since then, the two have worked together at Blinn Junior College, Central Missouri, a second time at Sam Houston State and will reunite at Tulane for the fifth time over the last 31 years.”
Nagle and Fobbs will also work offensive positions with the former coaching tight ends and the latter coaching running backs. Hampton will coach defensive backs.
Willie Fritz led the Eagles to a 17-7 record over the last two seasons, including an 8-0 record in the Sun Belt in 2014 and their first ever bowl appearance last season.
