The NCAA Tournament tips off later tonight, but there is another tournament that not a lot of people give respect to. The NIT will tip off tonight with Akron and Ohio State and NBA superstar LeBron James seems to be sticking with the hometown team over the favorite.
The Buckeyes have always supported LeBron, giving him a locker at the Schottenstein Center and hosting the Cleveland Cavaliers for an exhibition game in the preseason. However, the superstar doesn’t seem to be rooting for the team in Columbus.

This makes a good bit of sense as LeBron James is from Akron. He has even said in the past that if he were to have gone to college, he would have likely ended up a Zip.
What’s more is that Akron head coach, Keith Dambrot, was LeBron’s high school coach at St. Vincent-St. Mary’s High School. It’s pretty clear that LeBron has to pull for the Zips.
The Buckeyes and Zips take the court tonight at 7 p.m. EST on ESPN.
