NFL Draft 2016: Cris Collinsworth believes QBs will go 1, 2

With the 2016 NFL Draft just around the corner, there is still plenty of discussion regarding the top quarterback in the class. There are some who believe North Dakota State star Carson Wentz is the top signal-caller available, while a different group of analysts and scouts back Cal’s Jared Goff.

Regardless of who the first quarterback off the board turns out to be, Chris Collinsworth believes Wentz and Goff will be the top two picks in Chicago this April.

According to Collinsworth, who owns Pro Football Focus, the Los Angeles Rams should trade up to No. 1 to select Wentz. Then, Goff would be ripe for the picking for the Cleveland Browns at No. 2 overall.

“As a GM you simply can’t take the chance that one of them becomes the next Peyton Manning or Tom Brady while playing for another team,” Collinsworth wrote.

If the Rams or Browns truly believe Wentz or Goff could be their quarterback of the future, the wise choice is to act quickly and make them their first pick in the draft. If they choose to go another direction, there will be some close monitoring of their careers over the next few years to see how big of a mistake passing on them was.

The 2016 NFL Draft takes place April 28-30.
