As the 2016 NFL Draft approaches, there has been plenty of discussion about whether Jared Goff of Cal or North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz should be the first quarterback off the board.
Well, if you ask one NFC executive, that decision should be a no-brainer.
The NFC executive — presumably picking in the middle of the first round — shared his thoughts on Goff to NFL.com and it is clear he has a strong opinion on the signal-caller debate.
“I wish somebody would start some rumor to get (Jared) Goff to fall in the draft. Let’s get that small-hand talk going! We would take him tomorrow. He’s the best quarterback in this draft and it’s not as close as the media is making it sound,” the executive said.
The comments are very interesting.
In recent weeks, it seems as though Wentz has become the media darling at the position thanks to a strong performance at the Senior Bowl and NFL Scouting Combine. However, if the NFC executive is voicing the opinion he hears in NFL circles, perhaps Goff is still viewed as the top talent at his position.
