Butler live mascot barred from Tournament

The Butler Bulldogs pulled off a big upset win in the Round of 64 over the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Thursday. They advanced to the Round of 32 and are looking to make a run over the next few days.

However, during their game at PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina, they weren’t allowed to bring in their live bulldog mascot, Butler Blue III. Some fans were pretty upset and the Arena had to tell them that they were under NCAA Tournament protocol, which bars live animal mascots.

The team tweeted from Butler Blue III’s official Twitter and seemed pretty upset about not being allowed at the games. However, he did travel with the team and was cheering them on from the hotel.

The Bulldogs will now play the Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday and hope to have their mascot with them in spirit as they try to get back to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2011.
