NCAA Wrestling Tournament 2016: Penn State holds lead through quarters

The 2016 NCAA Wrestling Tournament has provided plenty of exciting action over the past two days and the Penn State Nittany Lions have to be pleased with the performance of their athletes through the quarterfinals.

On Friday, 17,899 eager fans flooded Madison Square Garden for Session 3 of the tournament and saw another masterful display that was dominated by the top names in the Big Ten.

Through the quarterfinals, Penn State was able to extend its lead and get in position to reclaim the national team title from Ohio State.

Penn State jumped out to an early lead on Day 1 and hasn’t looked back.

Last season’s title went to the Buckeyes and that title broke a streak which the Nittany Lions had rolling. From 2011-2014, Penn State wrestling was winners of four consecutive NCAA team titles.

Now, it looks like they are back on track.
