The Saint Joseph’s Hawks pulled off a big win in the NCAA Tournament when they beat the Cincinnati Bearcats to move on to the Round of 32. Following the game, head coach Phil Martelli was pretty happy for the big win.
In fact, he was so happy that he seemingly asked the reporter if marijuana was sold “in this town.” Of course, the game took place in Spokane, Washington, where the sell and usage of recreational marijuana is legal.
He seemed only to be joking around, but I still wouldn’t be surprised to see the NCAA at least contact Martelli. You can’t really blame him though as he led Saint Joseph’s to its first win in the NCAA Tournament since 2004.
The Hawks will now take on the Oregon Ducks on Sunday. If the pull off the upset over the No. 1 seed, don’t be surprised to hear Martelli asking this same question again.
