Amba Etta-Tawo leaving Maryland for Syracuse

The Syracuse Orange keep racking up great players and are looking to make some noise in the ACC in the 2016 season. You can add former Maryland wide receiver Amba Etta-Tawo to the list of talented players first-year head coach Dino Babers has landed this year.

Etta-Tawo announced his intentions to leave Maryland earlier this month and has now decided on his landing spot. He confirmed to Scout.com’s Michael McAllister that he would be leaving the former ACC school to head for a current one.

Signed and fired up about the season,” he said. “Good environment, good genuine coaching staff and a great opportunity.”

Over the course of three seasons with the Terrapins, Etta-Tawo racked up 938 yards and three touchdowns on 61 total receptions. Ironically, his only 100-yard game came against Syracuse in 2013.

Babers has been known for his explosive offenses over his career as a coach and Amba Etta-Tawo certainly adds some talent and depth to their receiving corps. Everyone may be talking about Dalvin Cook and Florida State or Deshaun Watson and Clemson, but the Orange are slightly piling up one of the more impressive-looking teams in the ACC.

They likely won’t be competitors for a spot in the College Football Playoff, but a good 2016 season could be all Syracuse needs to start a run of good seasons in the ACC.
