Ryan Fitzpatrick is hoping to get paid this year, but it certainly doesn’t look like it is going to be with the New York Jets. Even after his great 2015 season, he still may be asking for just a bit too much.
According to Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole, Fitzpatrick and the Jets are pretty far off from making a deal and it’s mostly because he is asking for $16 million per year. That certainly seems like a little much for a quarterback who has never proved he can get a team over the hump.
The Jets have reportedly also been in talks with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to trade for Mike Glennon, who many believed to be the future in Tampa before Jameis Winston came to town.
This certainly doesn’t look good for Fitzpatrick, who has spent most of his career hopping around the league.
During his 11-year career, Ryan Fitzpatrick has seen action with six different teams, racking up over 23,000 yards. He had his best statistical season last year as he threw for 3,905 yards and 31 touchdowns, both career highs.
