NFL scout: Jarran Reed is a top 15 pick

Alabama is known for putting great players into the NFL, especially defensive linemen. It looks like they are going to be putting some talented linemen in the league this year as both A’Shawn Robinson and Jarran Reed are grabbing the attention of many scouts around the NFL.

The latter is garnering a whole bunch of attention and one scout believes that Reed is worthy of a top 15 pick at this point. The scout said he changed his mind about Reed after watching him chase down Carson Wentz at the Senior Bowl.

“I didn’t realize how well he ran until he caught Wentz in the Senior Bowl,” the scout said. “He’s a mid-first, anywhere from 10-15, sounds right. You don’t see a lot of his pass rush, but I think he can.”

Jarran Reed may not be a great pass rusher, but he is certainly a good run stopper. During his two years with Alabama, he recorded 111 tackles with 11 of them being for loss.

He does have to work on getting to the quarterback, but he could certainly work if he is put into the correct defensive scheme.
