Sting announces retirement at Hall of Fame ceremony

For months, it has been rumored that legendary professional wrestler Sting would be officially retiring from the ring. It was rumored that the announcement would come at the Hall of Fame ceremony, where Sting was inducted, and those rumors turned out to be true.

During his speech at the ceremony Saturday night, Sting announced that he would be retiring from the ring. He was greeted with thousands of “Thank you, Sting!” chants and decided to bring out his trademark bat and put on a pair of sunglasses before telling the crowd “this isn’t goodbye, it’s just see you later.”

That last line seemed as eerie as the wrestler’s “Crow” gimmick during his WCW days. However, at 57 years of age, it is hard to believe that he would actually be stepping into the ring ever again.

During his 30-plus year career, Sting racked up six WCW World Heavyweight Championship runs, four TNA Heavweight Championships, and three WCW Tag Team Championships. In addition to him being inducted into the Hall of Fame last night, he was the first inductee into the TNA Hall of Fame in 2012.
