Marcus Paige thanks UNC, Roy Williams

The Villanova Wildcats defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels on a ridiculous Kris Jenkins buzzer beater to win the 2016 NCAA Tournament on Monday.

However, it was before his shot that Tar Heel great Marcus Paige hit an unbelievable shot to tie the game with just under five seconds left.

Paige’s career came at North Carolina came to an end after the final buzzer sounded on Monday and he is pretty excited to say that he was a part of something special. He took to Twitter Tuesday and thanked the Tar Heels and head coach Roy Williams for everything they did for him.

Paige had a great career with the Tar Heels and he is sure to have a great career in the NBA. He helped lead the Tar Heels to the national title game this year and four straight NCAA Tournament appearances.

During his time in Chapel Hill, Marcus Paige averaged 13.1 points and 4.3 assists per game. He has certainly been a great player and even better leader for the Tar Heels and the fans will likely never see another player like him.
