Florida State, LSU top FPI win-loss projections

ESPN released its Football Power Index rankings on Thursday and everyone seems pretty excited about their team’s chances for the 2016 season. In those rankings, both Florida State and LSU topped the list for best win-loss projections going into the season.

The Florida State Seminoles are currently projected to win 10.6 games, which could be rounded up to 11. That is pretty surprising considering that they have the third-toughest schedule for the 2016 season.

Seven teams are expected to win double-digit games, with Boise State being the only Group of Five team in the list. Surprisingly, the Tennessee Volunteers are given the second best chance to win the SEC, not the defending champion Alabama.

Here are the top 20 teams for win-loss projection in the 2016 season.

When it comes to the lowest projected win total, the Kansas Jayhawks are at the top of the list. However, they are given 2.5 wins on the year, which would be an improvement as they went winless in 2015.

These rankings might not mean much as anything can happen once the season actually rolls around. With just five months to go, it should be exciting to see how some teams adjust to this, if they pay attention to them at all.
