Speedy Noil still suspended for season opener vs. UCLA

The Texas A&M Aggies made the decision to suspend one of their best players for the end of the 2015 season. Wide receiver Speedy Noil was handed a two-game suspension, which will carry over into the 2016 season and caused him to miss the team’s Music City Bowl.

Head coach Kevin Sumlin confirmed his suspension was still standing on Thursday. Sumlin talked about the decision to hold him out against UCLA being made a while back and that his mind hasn’t changed on the matter.

Speedy Noil has had a bumpy road during his career with the Aggies. He was arrested last month for driving with a suspended driver’s license, was suspended for the Western Carolina game last season. He even took some time off to deal with his off-field issues.

This has led to other receivers, like Christian Kirk, getting a chance to step up. However, when Noil does actually see the field, he can be a great player for the Aggies.

During his shortened two-year career, he has recorded 809 yards and seven touchdowns through the air and 886 yards on kickoff returns. If he can keep out of trouble, Noil certainly has the chance to be a great player in the SEC.
