Deshaun Watson to play for both teams at Clemson’s spring game

Remember the days of backyard football? If there were not enough players to have even teams, it wasn’t out of the question to designate a “full-time quarterback.” While the Clemson Tigers won’t be doing exactly that, they do seem to be drawing some inspiration from the backyard days.

On Saturday morning, it was announced that Clemson star quarterback Deshaun Watson will be playing for both teams at the school’s spring game.

Per head coach Dabo Swinney, it was the “only fair way to do it.”

With Watson playing on both teams, don’t expect to see him play too far into the game.

After all, the Tigers are looking to return to the College Football Playoff National Championship and it is important for Watson to be under center. Entering the season, Watson is one of the top Heisman Trophy favorites in the nation.

Will playing for both teams sharpen Watson’s skillset as he prepares for what is likely his final year at Clemson? Only time will tell.
