Will Smith, former NFL player, killed in road rage incident

In the wee hours of the morning on Sunday, news surfaced that former NFL defensive end Will Smith, who spent more than ten years with the New Orleans Saints, was shot and killed after what is being reported as a road rage incident.

Smith was in his Mercedes when he was rear ended by a Hummer H2.

The accident caused Smith to make contact with the vehicle in front of him.

After the minor accident, the driver of the Hummer reportedly exited his vehicle and engaged in a heated exchange with Will Smith. At that time, the driver of the Hummer pulled out a gun and shot Smith multiple times.

Smith was pronounced dead on the scene, while his wife was transported to a local hospital after reportedly suffering two wounds to her leg.

Along with his wife, Smith leaves behind three children.

Like the rest of the sports world and his former teammates, our thoughts and prayers are with Smith’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult and tragic time.

Were praying for the Smith family. I'm hurt to hear about this news. This man had a beautiful family. His life taken away for nothing 😔
