Video: HS player nails epic bat flip after walk-off grand slam

Last season, Toronto Blue Jays star Jose Bautista blew up the internet after hitting a home run against the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs and doing a disrespectful bat flip. This has led to many players across the country doing just that and there was probably none more epic than the one Ryan Sepede of Bishop Gorman High School did on Saturday.

Sepede and his team were facing off against Desert Oasis High on Saturday and were trailing 5-2 in the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded when he came up to bat. Sepede crushed a grand slam over the left field wall and, in his excitement, gave the internet something to talk about with a crazy bat flip that nearly went 30 feet in the air.

He was sure to excuse himself with the caption on the tweet of his hit, but that still doesn’t make it any less awesome.

From this angle, you can see that the bat came flying towards the ground an nearly hit the opposing catcher, which would have gotten him a lot more heat than he actually received.

This still probably wouldn’t go over very well in the MLB today as professionals are supposed to act as such. However, Sepede is in high school and was excited about probably the best hit of his life, so I think he is permitted to be a little excited in his celebration.
