Arkansas Razorbacks tight end Hunter Henry is widely regarded as the top player at his position in the 2016 NFL Draft class, but it was considered unlikely that he would be a first-round selection largely because of the position he plays.
However, that may not be the case.
In a recent report from NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah, Hunter Henry “is starting to gain some steam in personnel circles.”With that in mind, Jeremiah mocked Henry to the Houston Texans with the No. 22 overall pick, noting “he’d be a great fit in this system.”
As the No. 1 tight end, it is possible that one team highly covets the position and begins the run earlier than anticipated.
If that’s the case, it plays well in Henry’s favor.
Henry is a valuable asset in the passing game and will be able to create mismatches at the next level, but what will concern some teams is his lack of willingness and ability to make an impact blocking.
Will someone overlook that and pull the trigger on Henry earlier than expected? We will find out in a matter of weeks.
