Case Keenum signs 1-year RFA tender

The Los Angeles Rams made a big trade with the Tennessee Titans to move up to the top spot in the 2016 NFL Draft. This likely means that they will be looking at taking a quarterback, leaving players like Nick Foles and Case Keenum in purgatory when it comes to their spot on the roster.

The latter quarterback now looks to be available for trade options in the near future. NFL Senior Media analyst Ian Rapoport reported that Keenum had signed his one-year restricted free agent tender worth $3.635 million, meaning a trade is available for the Rams to make.

Keenum was traded to the Rams from the Houston Texans near the end of the 2015 season. He ended up starting the final five games in place of Foles, who was dealing with concussions.

Case Keenum, who was signed by the Texans in 2012 after going undrafted, threw for 828 yards and four touchdowns while taking the Rams to a 3-2 mark to end the season. He doesn’t seem to be the answer for the team, hence their reason for last week’s big trade, but he could end up being a viable option for some team down the line and could earn the Rams a draft pick, which they desperately need after giving up six for the top spot.

Could Keenum still have a starting job with his name on it in the NFL somewhere?
