The cornerback position comes at a premium in the 2016 NFL Draft this year, but it looks like there are a few stars coming from small schools. One of those rising stars is North Carolina Central defensive back Ryan Smith and it looks like a few teams are clamoring to have a shot at him.
According to Alex Marvez of FOX Sports, Smith has been making his rounds in the league as of late and a few of the teams are ones that truly need help in the secondary. This could be great for the former Eagle as he looks to find a home in the NFL in just 10 days.
He quietly had a great career with the Eagles and has been moving up some boards over the last few weeks. He could easily fit into some secondaries like with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who desperately need the help, and the Oakland Raiders.
During his career at North Carolina Central, Ryan Smith recorded seven interceptions and 31 pass deflections, while returning 14 kickoffs for 394 yards and a touchdown last season.
