Irish WWE star invites Conor McGregor to join WWE

The biggest news of the day was when UFC superstar and current featherweight champion Conor McGregor turned the MMA world upside-down and decided to “retire young” and was pulled from the main event at UFC 200. It looks like his tweet was taken pretty seriously and one WWE superstar would love to see him join the roster.

WWE superstar Becky Lynch is easily the second biggest name in the sports entertainment world to come out of Ireland behind McGregor (Sorry, Sheamus). She took to Twitter following his announcement and invited him to “come join me bro” in WWE.

You can take this with a grain of salt, but following his tweet, Conor McGregor decided to follow a large number of WWE superstars, including Lynch and Sheamus, on Twitter.

McGregor would not be the first MMA fighter to make the jump to WWE. Ken Shamrock, one of the UFC’s first and most famous fighters, did just that in the mid-90s, winning the Intercontinental Championship and the King of the Ring within the first few years of his career.

Dan Severn also joined WWE for a short stint, bringing his UFC rivalry with Shamrock to the company.

This could certainly be an interesting development to watch over the next few weeks.
