UNC gets second notice of violations from NCAA

According to a report on Monday from Sports Illustrated, the North Carolina Tar Heels have received a new notice of allegations from the NCAA.  These allegations are largely associated with the school’s latest academic fraud scandal that surfaced earlier in the year.

An anonymous person with information about the scandal confirmed this to the Associated Press on Monday.

Originally, the university received a notice from the NCAA in month of May. This original notice listed five high level charges. Among the charges were allegations of poor oversight of academics, as well as a need for stronger institutional control. After going over the information that the Tar Heels reported in the month of August, the NCAA made the decision to issue yet another notice.

UNC now has a total of 90 days to respond to this most recently issued document. The school has yet to issue any sort of formal statement regarding the situation, though we can reasonably expect to hear one soon.
