On Tuesday, ESPN released a statement regarding the future of First Take host Skip Bayless. Bayless, who is one of the most controversial and polarizing figures in sports media, has decided he will leave ESPN following his current contract.
As a result, Bayless will be leaving the Worldwide Leader the day after the NBA Finals.
“Skip Bayless has decided to leave ESPN when his contract expires at the end of August,” the statement read. “His final appearance on First Take will be the day after the NBA Finals conclude. We want to thank Skip for his many contributions to ESPN. His hard work and talent have benefited ESPN for 12 years.”
So what would be next for Bayless?
Well, according to Deadspin, Bayless could be heading to FOX Sports. Fox Sports has a new leader in Jamie Horowitz, who worked with Bayless on First Take, so it would be a natural fit.
As for the future of First Take, well, the show must go on.
I'm told First Take will continue and they already have some finalists for the Bayless position.
