Steve Kerr named NBA Coach of the Year

The Golden State Warriors have been the best team in the NBA all season and they look to be well on their way to getting back to the NBA Finals for a consecutive season. Head coach Steve Kerr was a big part of their success this year and he was honored for what he helped them do.

ESPN’s Marc Stein reported that Kerr was named the league’s Coach of the Year. This came after Kerr missed the first half of the season due to offseason back surgery.

ESPN sources say that Golden State's Steve Kerr has won the NBA Coach of the Year award for the 2015-16 season.

After Kerr’s return in January, the Warriors won 39 of their last 44 games and broke the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls’ record for the most wins in the season. Coincidentally, Kerr was a member of that team during his playing days.

Steve Kerr became the first person to be a part of two teams that won at least 72 games in a regular season, one as a player and one as a coach. He led the Warriors to a 73-9 record.

He now has a chance to help the team win two straight Larry O’Brien Trophies since the Miami Heat did so in 2012 and 2013.
