Former Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey is certainly one of the more versatile players in the 2016 NFL Draft. He can play anywhere you ask him to in the secondary, but that has come with some criticism over the last few years.
Some believe that because Ramsey played both cornerback and safety during his college days that he may be seen as someone who can play anywhere, but won’t really succeed at one position. However, his former coach, Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher, believes that his intelligence is going to outweigh the fact that he doesn’t play just one position.
“Highly intelligent, very smart, learns very well,” Fisher said. “That’s why we were able to move him to so many different places. A lot of guys have the athletic ability but not the intelligence level of comprehending all that. Extremely athletic and at the same time physical, that’s very rare for a corner. He’s got length and size, you can play the nickel, you can play the dime, you can play field corner, boundary corner or safety.”
He said that Ramsey’s intelligence has been one of the reasons why he can play any position on the field. It also makes him one of the most intriguing players available this year.
You can’t deny that Jalen Ramsey is going to be one of the best players in the NFL for the next few years to come.
