Miami Dolphins rookies won’t take field during minicamp

Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase will be heading into the 2016-17 NFL season employing a very unique strategy. According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, the first-year leading man is set to keep rookies off the practice field during minicamp.

Rather than taking the field and risking injury in early season practices, No. 13 overall pick Laremy Tunsil and the remainder of the Dolphins rookies will be going through their own rookie symposium of sorts.

Per the report, the Miami Dolphins rookies will be spending extra time studying film and the playbooks, while also learning about “nutrition, financial planning, sports science, and dealing with the media.”

As long as the new NFL players can come in and get a firm grip on the team’s playbook and build chemistry through their meetings, it could turn out to be a great move.

After all, the Dolphins players will be going into training camp with fresher legs. That has to count for something.
