Video: Softball team celebrates early, loses championship in epic fashion

We have all seen teams, fans and even marching bands celebrate just a little too early in the past. I mean, who can forget the Kentucky fans climbing on the goalposts and fireworks exploding ahead of LSU’s “Bluegrass Miracle” in 2002?

This high school softball game between two Texas teams ended in almost the same exact way.

Wylie High School went into the bottom of the final inning with a four-run lead and their eyes locked on a district championship. McKinney North cut the lead down to two and had the bases loaded and two outs, with Wylie knowing they needed a force out at any base to win the game.

Wylie got what they thought was the game-winning force out at second base and the celebration ensued. However, the McKinney North runner was never called out, allowing them to score three runs and win the district championship.

This is easily one of the craziest finishes to any sporting event I have ever seen. This just goes to show that you should never celebrate until the officials have called the game over.
