Former Baylor defensive end Shawn Oakman went undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft and has yet to sign a free agent deal with any team in the league. It looks like the teams were turned off by his off-field troubles and his former head coach Art Briles was not given the chance to come to his player’s defense.
According to FOX Sports’ Bruce Feldman, Briles said that no team had called inquiring about Oakman.
Just a week before the draft, the defensive end was arrested on sexual assault charges relating to a rape investigation, which certainly contributed to his drop in the draft.
Art Briles said he received no calls from NFL teams about #Baylor DL Shawn Oakman.

At one point, Oakman was the top defensive player available in the draft. He fell off during the season and ended up slipping further and further down many teams’ draft boards.
Shawn Oakman is going to have to clean up his act if he wants a chance at the NFL, but it certainly doesn’t seem like he will have a chance in the league anytime soon.
