Kobe Bryant turning retirement poem into animated short film

Former Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant announced his plans to retire ahead of the 2015-16 NBA season and did so in a unique way. He wrote a poem titled “Dear Basketball,” which he released on The Players’ Tribune.

It looks like he is taking little time off after his retirement as he will be working on turning that poem into another unique form of media. Bryant is partnering with Sports Illustrated and The Players’ Tribune to turn it into a short animated film.

“The animated short film Dear Basketball will be narrated by Bryant and will premier on SI.com in the fall,” the website reported. “Several exclusive SI Films mini documentaries will also accompany the film, showing viewers the behind-the-scenes process of producing the project.”

It looks like fans will get one last dose of the surefire Hall of Famer before he rides off into the sunset.
