Report: Mississippi State student dies after fall at Davis-Wade Stadium

Tragedy struck the Mississippi State community early Saturday morning, when a  21-year-old student fell to his death from the jumbotron at Davis-Wade Stadium.

According to WTVA, Andrew Scott Demboski and two friends climbed the scoreboard before Demboski lost his footing and fell 18-feet to his death at approximately 1:30 a.m. Per the report, “Demboski went into cardiac arrest and apparently died from head injuries following the fall.”

The report offers more on the situation.

“He fell about 18 feet onto a platform, landing on his head, [Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt] said. The Starkville Fire Department had to use rescue techniques to get him down from the platform. Emergency responders worked on Demboski for about an hour while he was being removed to the ground level but could not save him, Hunt said. A helicopter was waiting outside the stadium to take him to a hospital.”

Our deepest condolences go out to Demboski’s family and friends and everyone in the Mississippi State community who may have been impacted by this tragedy.
