Joe Theismann rips Sam Bradford with ranting interview

There are not too many people happy with how quarterback Sam Bradford has handled his current situation with the Philadelphia Eagles. He is certainly not doing himself any favors in the department of actually being able to keep his job and compete for the starting position.

One of the people who isn’t happy with Bradford is Super Bowl championship quarterback Joe Theismann. He recently joined NFL Radio on SiriusXM and did not have too many friendly things to say about the Eagles’ quarterback.

“The impression that I get is that this guy here doesn’t want to compete,” Theismann said. “He’s not interested in playing quarterback. He’s not interested in competing at the quarterback position. He wants it handed to him on a silver platter. Well that’s not the way life is. The Eagles owed him no explanation. If you think you’re that good, you should be able to beat out a rookie who has no earthly idea of what the NFL looks like.

…. Strap your chin strap on, put your helmet on, put your jock on, and go out and compete like somebody who wants the job. Don’t gripe about, ‘Oh I’m not going to OTAs, I’m not going to do this.’ How about doing something instead of not doing something? I am just so upset over this kind of bologna from young guys.”

You cannot blame Joe Theismann for being so upset with Bradford as he played in a much different era than the one today. The former top pick in the draft isn’t doing himself any favors by trying to coast his way to the starting spot either.

Right now, Bradford needs to either decide he wants to actually play or just ask for a trade or release from the team. Until he makes that decision, he needs to try and do everything to make Carson Wentz better.
