Bryce Harper is one of the most exciting players in Major League Baseball today, but the Washington Nationals star also happens to be an incredible person off the field. That was on full display over the weekend.
Despite an interesting performance on Sunday against the Chicago Cubs — which included six walks and a hit-by-pitch — Harper took some time to help out a person in need.
According to a Cubs employee on Facebook, Harper went out of his way to make a homeless woman’s Mother’s Day a special one by giving her a gift. The gift was a glass jar full of money, which made a big impression on the woman.
“Got to work security for the visitor’s bus after the game today & witnessed something amazing! Bryce Harper had already gotten on his bus but, about 10 minutes later he walks off again with a glass jar full of money. I watched him run across Sheffield & give it to a homeless woman who was sitting under a tree next to her dog with a big smile. That woman’s face lit up so brightly & she couldn’t believe it! I couldn’t help but give him knucks as he got back on the bus & told him he was a good man. He gave them back with a smile & a big thank you! Nationals or not…that was incredible to witness! Thanks, Bryce! Respect,” Asheley Moore wrote.
That’s an incredible story.
It’s always great to see an athlete go out of his way to help someone in need, so kudos to you, Bryce Harper.
