Canyon Barry, the youngest son of Rick Barry who has kept underhand free throw shooting alive, will be heading to Gainesville to finish out his collegiate basketball career.
ESPN first reported that Barry is set to transfer to play for Mike White and the Florida Gators.
Barry, who has proven to be a scoring threat during his time at Charleston, will provide some much needed scoring depth, energy and an offensive burst off the bench.
Florida could certainly use the scoring boost, which Barry proved he can provide by averaging 19.7 points as a junior last season.
Barry earned his degree in physics during his time at Charleston, so he will be eligible to suit up immediately. It’s widely believed that Barry will begin Florida career on the bench, but it will be interesting to see if he can crack the starting lineup by the end of the season.
