Tennessee Titans fans have been excited by many recent moves made by the team, and the drafting of Derrick Henry in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft was no exception.
On Monday, the Titans and the former Alabama Crimson Tide running back officially signed Henry’s rookie deal.
With this, Henry became one of six Titans draft picks to reach an agreement and sign a contract. Cornerback Klan Reed, linebacker Aaron Wallace, corenerback LeShaun Sims and receiver Tajae Sharpe also inked their deals.
Henry will be entering the Titans 2016 offense as a backup to recent addition and veteran Demarco Murray. Henry will also be the second Heisman-winning member of the team, joining the ranks of franchise quarterback Marcus Mariota.
We can expect to see strong use of the running game in Mularkey’s offensive scheme this season. Henry is expected to excel under such a scheme, as he racked up an astounding 2,219 yards and 28 touchdowns in his final season in Alabama.
