UNC Asheville transfer PG Dylan Smith commits to Arizona

The Arizona Wildcats had a solid campaign during the 2015-16 season as they went 25-9 and advanced to the semifinals of the PAC-12 Conference tournament, making a fourth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. They have just added a pretty good player to their roster in the form of UNC Asheville transfer point guard Dylan Smith.

Smith announced his intentions to transfer to Arizona on his Twitter account early Thursday morning. He made his decision from a list of schools that also included NC State, Texas A&M, and Butler.

The rising sophomore will have to sit out the 2016-17 season due to NCAA transfer rules, but he will have three years of eligibility beginning with the start of the 2017-18 season.

The Wildcats know they are getting a talented player in the former Bulldog.

During his freshman year, Dylan Smith averaged 13.5 points for UNC Asheville. He was key in helping the Bulldogs get to the NCAA Tournament for the third time since 2011 and win the Big South Conference tournament for a fourth time since 2003.
