North Carolina State men’s baseball coach Elliott Avent is set to miss the team’s weekend series against the Louisville Cardinals for a very uncommon reason.
According to reports, the 60-year-old baseball coach and his dog were both bitten by a copperhead snake.
Avent was transported to the hospital and received a shot after suffering the bite. Avent was released from the hospital on Thursday, but his foot remains swollen and he will rest up rather than travel with the Wolfpack at the advice of doctors.

Avent had to get a shot and stayed in the hospital before being released in the morning. Doctor says he can't travel. Very swollen but okay.

It seems like the situation could have been much worse, so kudos to the doctors for acting quickly.
We would like to wish Avent a speedy recovery.
