The Florida Gators are looking to repeat as SEC East champions in 2016. However, they will be without a piece of their depth chart after Ryan Sousa decided to transfer out of Gainesville.
Sousa, who redshirted his true freshman year in 2014, has been a small part of the Gators’ team over the last two years. After spring practices wrapped up, it looked like he would be a the bottom of the totem pole again, which led to his announcement Thursday morning.

Sousa was a three-star member of the Gators’ 2014 recruiting class and he played in just two games during the 2015 season. He recorded no statistics and was likely going to struggle in getting playing time this year.
If Ryan Sousa decides to stay at the FBS level, he would have to sit out the 2016 season and would have just two years of eligibility left starting in 2017. However, he could transfer to the FCS level and play immediately, with three years of eligibility left.
