Video: Mark Richt starred in hilarious ‘Jesus Jeans’ commercial in 1982

Before first-year Miami Hurricanes head coach Mark Richt was a longtime coach at the University of Georgia, he was a student-athlete at Miami. During those years, he was also quite the commercial model, apparently.

In a commercial from 1982 for “Jesus Jeans,” an Italian jeans company, Richt can be seen jumping around with his typical 80’s mane of hair.

Unfortunately for Richt, according to FIU professor Michael Scott Sheerin, a former Miami student, there weren’t very many perks other than the ladies.

“I remember helping him out with the cues for his scenes,” Sheerin said. “And that the chicks paid him a lot of attention. I don’t think we got paid very much at all – didn’t even get to keep the jeans!”

We will just blame the NCAA for Richt getting screwed out of a pair of free jeans. Though, it’s probably safe to assume he can afford a few pairs of “Jesus Jeans” these days… if they’re even still around.
